Election Day Tomorrow

There are approximately 2.3 million people and 28 ethnic groups in Sarawak alone. This little fact is amazing to me, because any person who can control that number from disaster or unrest must be very very smart and powerful. And that person is none other than the present Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud. In that sense he has my respect and admiration.

Believe it or not, Sarawak is the world’s largest exporter of tropical logs. This fact makes me assume that most millionaires in Sarawak must be “taukey balak” or logs exporter.

Anyway, tomorrow is a big day for Sarawakians. They will vote which candidate or nominee to be Yang Berhormat or YB in the state. YB who will represent them in the State Assembly.

I hope they will choose someone who can deliver the people or rakyat aspirations and who has integrity and credibility. Someone who can say NO to and fight corruption at all cost. Someone who will put rakyat interests more than his personal interests. Someone who will fight for the poor people and the less fortunate. Someone who will bring development to rakyat either physically and mentally.

Someone told me once that good government needs a smart opposition to bring check and balance to the government. Someone else told me that good YB would not need anyone to remind him what to do because he already knows what to do.

Whatever it is, let us let the people of Sarawak do the talking tomorrow. Democracy and election are the only working and best system that we have so far.

Good luck to them tomorrow.
