My little reunion dinner.
Last nite, I had a special dinner with my close friends, we used to live together in Anggerik apartment in Gombak. They were also my university mates and interestingly, two of them were my schoolmates in Kajang. It was a momentous reunion as most of us had moved out from the apartment with bittersweet memories. Most of us left the apartment after we got married except for the two who are getting married at the end of this year, hopefully:-). Occasionally I would drop by and say ‘hi’ to my two friends who are still living there.
The venue was Duyong Restaurant in Kelab Darul Ehsan in Ampang. The dinner started at 8.00 pm and most of us arrived before 9.00 pm except for one person. It was a cozy and nice-looking restaurant. Most of us had buffet at RM40.00 ++ per person. The ala carte menu was not bad also. I organized the gathering and made the necessary reservation. The restaurant was chose after I consulted several of my friends. Initially we planned to do it at Nelayan Restaurant in Tasik Titiwangsa but some of us advised me against it. There were some complaints about the quality of service there.
During the dinner, we reminisced about our days in the apartment, we joked about our silliness and blunders of our bachelor days. It was fun. It was hilarious. Those days, we were just a bunch of poor guys who just graduated and landed a steady job, we used to dream about big car, big house and beautiful wife. We were idealistic and energetic. Now we are better, most of us have big car now and earning good salary.
My narrative here would not be completed unless I mention their names here. At the dinner table last nite were dir, yoo, hasnul, issey, zainuddin & mek nor. All of us are lawyers except for zainuddin who is an executive at LHDN.
Dir & Mek Nor are still living there and I heard they are getting married this year; congratulations to them. I’m still waiting for their invitation cards. Mek Nor came with his girlfriend, who is also my wife’s best friend, Cik Su. Dir came with my brother, Hanan and Fadli, yoo’s brother. Hasnul is married and has two kids; he came with his wife, Cik Tee. Yoo came with his wife, Intan. Zainuddin is still single and so far no news about his private single life. Issey who is also married came alone; he had a football match that afternoon and did not have enough time to bring his wife and two baby girls.
We left the restaurant at about 10.15 pm. We had a wonderful evening. I plan to do it again soon, hopefully during this fasting month. Till then, thanks my friends.
