the Final in Paris this Thursday

It’s an open secret among my close friends, relatives and family that I’m a hardcore Arsenal FC fan. I make it a point to follow arsenal games every week for the past three years. Believe it or not, I have four arsenal jerseys, a shirt and a jacket. I would even wake up in the middle of the night just to watch the live game in ESPN or SuperSport. I would tell my beloved wife to leave the Astro’s remote control to me exclusively during the arsenal live game. Sometimes when I don’t have enough time to watch it live, then I would wait for the delay telecast. It’s such a great joy to take a little break from my daily chores just to watch the football games.

Someone had asked me once; why are you so crazy about football? I told him that one could not appreciate the wonderful feeling and joy of the game unless one watches it with such a great passion or like one is betting everything he has on the game. But unexpectedly, he could not understand it.

I was a bit disappointed that I did not visit the Highbury Stadium when I was in London last year. I planned to do it actually but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to skip it, maybe next time I will visit the new stadium, Emirates. I was frustrated last month that arsenal did not win the English Premier League and the FA Cup, but I consoled myself with the fact that arsenal had won all that previously. The only cup that elude arsenal is the prestigious Champions League Cup. For arsenal to claim that it’s one of the greatest clubs in Europe then arsenal has no choice but to win the cup, period!.

Therefore I’m really excited that finally arsenal has reached the Champions League Final in Paris. The final game is scheduled this Thursday at 2 am. The venue is Stade De France Stadium and the opponent is Barcelona FC, one of the greatest clubs on earth. Barcelona only won the cup once in 1992, arsenal none. I can’t wait to watch it live.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger who is a Frenchman, will surely do everything he can to maneuver his team to its greatest glory this thursday. I know the players too have high hope in this final; they are Henry, Ljungberg, Hleb, Gilberto, Fabregas, Reyes, Eboue, Toure, Senderos, Flamini, Lehmann, Campbell, Pires, Bergkamp, Clichy, Van Persie, Cole & Almunia. Surprisingly there are only two Englishmen in the team; Campbell and Cole.

Now I heard that it’s spring time in Paris, so the wheather must be good. I was in Paris last year during its’ winter time, it was bloody cold; I could not walk properly in Disneyland Paris because of that.

Anyway, good luck arsenal, bring us back the Cup.
