let us take a short vacation..
these days, vacation or holiday break is not a cheap affair. I have to spend my money from the moment I plan the vacation. I need to book flight tickets, bus tickets and hotel room. I need to call taxi to take me to the airport or bus station. I need to have someone to look after my house and property during my vacation. The transport and accommodation's arrangements are a must before I can even start my vacation. My credit card is so handy for the booking and advance payment for the vacation purposes. In short, I spend money before I even enjoy my vacation.
I also reserve some money for my petrol, meal and beverage throughout the vacation. My journey to the hotel or place to stay will cost me some more. I always reserve some money for some souvenirs, snacks and clothes. If I travel by car, I need to reserve money for my car in case of breakdown or repairs. In short, vacation is expensive thing to do unless I got extra money for it. So last weekend, I had the extra money.
hence, I went to Kuala Terengganu for a short break as well as to visit my parents. I drove from KL to Kuala Terengganu via the Karak Highway and then the New East Coast Highway. For one way journey, it cost me RM80.00 for the petrol alone and then another RM26.10 for the tolls along the highways. At Kuala Terengganu, I managed to save some money on the accommodation as I stayed in my parents’ place. Actually, I could not stay at other place without my parents’ consent, its a tradition already.
on my way back, I decided to stop and spend my night in Cherating as i had to do something in kemaman. So I checked in Holiday Villa at Cherating. I was told that it was a four-star resort hotel. I took a standard room for one day and it cost me RM150.00++. I think it was a fair deal considering the beauty of the resort especially the beach. The room was OK and facing swimming pool. For my dinner and breakfast I had to fork out another RM100.00 ++ but the foods were not so bad. After breakfast, i went for a swim session at the pool. The place was more beautiful at night and the beach was sandy and dirt free. There were more 'Mat Salleh' than Malaysians here, I felt like vacationing overseas. I took a brief walk along the beach with my wife. It was a fine day. It was a beautiful day. I really enjoyed my little escape or short vacation from the hustle and bustle of KL life.
My point is; short vacation in Malaysia or domestic vacation is worthwhile. I highly recommend my friends to go to Cherating, Pahang, it’s a beautiful place to unwind, trust me on this :-). Maybe I need to spend extra money but hey it’s not much compare to my previous vacation overseas. I’m going for another short vacation later. Good luck to me.
