please don't simply judge other people
It really broke my heart to read about the recent tragic accident at a railway track in Sungai Petani, Kedah. A young mother and her two sons died after been hit head-on by a passenger train. Two of them died on the spot. Their motorcycle was stuck on the crossing track. The mother tried to push away the motorcycle but it was too late. The mother wanted to send her sons to their school. It was early in the morning. It was unfortunate and a misfortune.
The father who came later to the scene of the accident cried hysterically when he saw the bodies of his beloved wife and sons. It was so sad. He worked as a lorry driver. According to some witnesses, most people in that area used the illegal railway crossing to cut-short their trips to schools and factories there. It was a normal thing to do there.
This kind of accident can happen to anyone, but certain people simply blame it on these poor people. They say they should use the other road, not the illegal crossing one. This argument saddens me as it does not take into account the whole circumstances. Believe it or not, nowadays we can get killed in our own house. Surely we don’t want people to say that it’s our own fault. The truth is, accident can happen to anyone; anywhere and anytime. We can only do our best to avoid it. It’s not about illegal crossing or not. It’s not about whether we are poor or not. It’s just happened.
As regards the mother and her two sons, who are we to judge them? We don’t live there, we don’t know them, we don’t know their hardship and daily struggle to make a living. Obviously the mother was doing everything she could to live and to put her sons in schools. The poor mother personally sent her children to school in the early morning. Of course she wanted the best for herself and her children. Of course, she taught about their safety and their fate. Of course, she did not want to die. But God had other plan.
In any event, we all are not perfect and we do make mistakes. Sometimes we’ll make silly mistakes and we regret it later, luckily we are not dead yet. We may forget and we may take short cut. We all have problems and we all have responsibilities. We must learn and take lesson from any accident. It reminds us to be a better person. Therefore please don't simply pass judgment on others.
I think the best thing to do now is to take whatever action to avoid the accident from ever happening again. All party must take responsibilities. The government, the KTMB, the village head, the ‘Wakil Rakyat’ and the MP there. Maybe a bridge or gate should be built there. Maybe they should erect a fence there. Maybe they should put up something to warn the people there. I think they know better what to do, it's just whether they want to do it or not.
Finally I pray that God Almighty forgive and bless the deceased. They left us with something to learn and to ponder before our time comes to leave this world.
