agree to disagree
After the general election and its shocking results, I talked to several senior educated-malay people, I mean people who are more than 60s years, some of them were retired civil servants. I wanted to know their views and comments about the current political development.
As we know, now we have new MBs in Kedah, Perak and Selangor and new CM in
Some of the senior malay who were UMNO supporters were very disappointed with the new & young generation (40s below) who voted in the opposition into power out of anger to BN and not on opposition’s merits. They said the malay’s rights and privileges will be compromised and maybe destroy soon. The young were reckless and did not appreciate the pain & struggles of the old generation to achieve independent and development. The young malays did not appreciate UMNO anymore.
In short, the senior say the young are not patriotic and not nationalist. I cannot agree on that because to be patriotic and to be a nationalist, we don’t have to be an UMNO member or its supporter. If we read the history, we have a lot of malay nationalists who fought the British and Japanese imperialist on another platform or political parties. They sacrificed everything for the country and malays but still remain unsung heroes in this country. These nationalists are underrated by UMNO and BN. The truth is whether we like it or not, the left-wing nationalists like Mustapha Hussain, Ahmad Boestaman, Pak Sako, Dr Burhanuddin and other so called left wing politicians had contributed a lot to our nation to pressure and push the British for
To me, if UMNO wants to stay relevant, it needs to really fight and wipe out corruption in the party and in the country. UMNO cannot be arrogant and self-centered. UMNO needs to fight for Islamic cause and values.
I also agree to disagree.
